This body of work consists of drawings that depict figures in dreamlike, stylized environments, which both reveal and obscure them using layers of graphite and washes of translucent color. The drawings express a longing for connection that seems just out of reach and a relationship to a mythical, mysterious setting which could be internal or external.

Graphite was applied to a gessoed panel and a variety of subtle and expressive marks were achieved by using pencil, stick, liquid, and powder along with fingers and erasers. Some of the pieces combine graphite drawing with layers of cyanotype exposures. Techniques used in each layer include painterly application of the photosensitive solution, wet process textures, photograms of plants and other objects or from digital negatives of original drawings.
